Genetic Testing Used to Find New Coronavirus Strain

The state of Kansas will rely on genetic testing to identify cases of the new and suspected more contagious mutation of the coronavirus strain first observed in England last month.

The director of the Kansas’ state health department, Dr. Lee Norman, in an interview said, “Kansas already does genetic testing with about 1% of COVID-19 patients and it plans to increase its lab capacity so that it can do more tests.”

Along with the fight against Covid-19, personalized genetic testing has become extremely popular in the past few years. Every year, thousands of new genetic disorders and conditions are discovered through simple and effective testing.

Vita Medical Solutions partners with laboratories to facilitate access to advanced genetic testing.
