The MtDNA test is a revolutionary DNA testing breakthrough which allows scientists to trace maternal lineage of both males and females. MtDNA stands for mitochondrial DNA which is found in human cell organelles. MtDNA rarely undergoes genetic mutations and thus, offers very accurate results.
Note: We can only guarantee standard result turnaround time when testing takes place solely using oral swab samples. Using a discreet sample for your test may lead to an increase in turnaround time.
Why MtDNA testing?
MtDNA testing can resolve many answers for you as a client. This test can help if two people are unsure about their biological maternal lineage due to separation, adoption, or a myriad of other causes.
MtDNA has additional applications too. An MtDNA test can ascertain if two individuals share maternal genetic material, it can also be used as a Sibling DNA test; Using the mtDNA analysis, we can definitively tell if two people share the same biological mother and are hence, half siblings or perhaps full siblings.
Note that people with the same MtDNA profile share the same maternal line; they could share the same mother, grandmother, a common aunt and so forth. Our test will confirm only whether or not the MtDNA profiles of the people tested match or do not match. We cannot determine how exactly they are related and which maternal relative they have in common.
